Do you organize group or Jeep-sharing safari tours at Natural World Kenya Safaris? Most safari tours operated by Grayton Expeditions are private per booking and are conducted in our own pop-up top 4x4 jeeps with a dedicated tour driver/guide. Guests booking with Grayton Expeditions, however, have the option to form private groups to travel together as families or friends. We do not create tour groups from individual bookings for medium to long-range safari tours. This decision allows for flexibility, customization, pace, and the choice of safari lodge/camp preferences.
Is there WiFi at the safari lodges and tented camps on safari? Most safari lodges and tented camp accommodations during your safari do offer free WiFi. This service is available across the three accommodation levels of economy, comfort, and luxury. WiFi is accessible in public areas of the safari lodges/tented camps, including reception, dining areas, and lounges, but not in individual rooms or tents. Free WiFi is also provided in our 4x4 Safari jeeps, with connectivity at approximately 70% due to local Kenyan network coverage.
Can we request an extra night/day on safari while on the group-sharing tour? On our overnight group-sharing safari, it is not possible to request an extra day safari extension. Since you share the safari Jeep with other travelers on a seat-in-car basis, the group leaves and returns to Nairobi together. Extending the safari would require a unanimous decision from all tour participants and is subject to the availability of extended accommodation in the respective tented camp/lodge. An extra day on safari would also involve additional payment.
Are mosquito nets provided in safari lodge rooms/tents? Our selection of safari lodges and tented camps prioritizes comfort, relaxation, and a natural atmosphere during safari. Each room/tent is equipped with mosquito nets or is insect-proofed to protect against insect bites. We recommend using insect repellent, especially during outdoor activities in the evenings, to enhance your protection against mosquitoes and other insects.
Do you have a maximum number of persons allowed to sleep in one safari room/tent? The maximum number of persons allowed in one room/tent is three. This may include a double bed and a single bed or three single beds. For groups of four or more people traveling together, we may book them in two rooms with interconnecting doors. Alternatively, for those who prefer to stay close as family or friends, adjacent tents/rooms may be booked. Some safari lodges/camps have family units with a maximum capacity of four persons, incurring an additional cost. All safari rooms/tents have private bathrooms/toilets.
What is the size/weight limit allowance for an individual in a safari Jeep? The safari tour Jeep has a generous luggage compartment at the rear and can comfortably accommodate six suitcases, each averaging 25-30kgs. Hand luggage with essential items can be carried inside the safari Jeep. It is recommended to pack in soft-sided suitcases for ease of storage and to minimize friction and damage during bumpy road safari trips.
What is the baggage allowance on local domestic/internal flights? For Kenya fly-in safaris or local/domestic safari flights to national parks/game reserves, there is a baggage allowance of 15kgs excluding hand luggage. Extra luggage not needed on safari can be stored at our Nairobi or Mombasa offices for free. Alternatively, an extra fee of $5 per kilogram may be paid for any additional baggage carried on the flight, subject to flight/carrier capacity.
Do you provide airport-hotel-airport transfers when we arrive and depart Nairobi or Mombasa in Kenya? As an extension of our safari tour services, Natural World provides free return airport/hotel transfers for guests booked on a 3 days plus safari tour with us. These transfers are provided even if you arrive or depart several days before or after your safari start/end. To arrange transfers, share your arrival and departure flight details, including airline codes and timings, and we will provide the transfer driver's name and telephone contact in advance.
Do you book or can you recommend a Nairobi hotel for our pre or post-safari stay? Nairobi hotel stay is not included in our listed safari tours and advertised prices. If you plan to arrive in Nairobi before the safari or stay a few days after, you will need a Nairobi hotel. Nairobi offers a range of hotels in economy, comfort, and luxury categories for a one-night or extended stay. As part of your safari tour, Natural World Safari will pick you up and drop you off at your respective Nairobi hotel or residence. If you need assistance with hotel recommendations or booking, we are happy to help.
What is the difference between a Safari lodge and a tented camp? Safari Lodges: A safari lodge in Africa is typically located in a remote wildlife area and consists of several cottages or chalets spread over landscaped land. The main building houses facilities such as a restaurant, bar, gift shop, reception, and administration. Lodges may include a swimming pool. En-suite guest rooms are situated in smaller separate cottages around the main building. The atmosphere is rustic, complementing the natural surroundings. Safari lodges vary in size, design, location, and standards, offering a range from economy to comfort to luxury.
Tented Camps:
Tented camps share similarities with safari lodges in layout, purpose, and location. A tented camp comprises a main building, often thatched in African style or made of a large tent, housing public areas. En-suite guest tents are scattered around the main building, providing a private feel. Tents are built on a solid floor base with private bathrooms and a small terrace or veranda. Tented camps come in comfort, superior comfort, luxury, and super luxury categories.
When proceeding to the Kenya coast at the end of the safari, where/when do we get our Nairobi to Mombasa first-class travel train tickets? For guests booked on Nairobi to Mombasa safaris, you will catch the Nairobi to Mombasa SGR train at Emali, Mtito Andei, or Voi train stations, depending on your last national park visit. First-class train tickets are pre-booked and paid for in advance. You only need to print your travel ticket at the respective train station, which takes only a few moments.
