On Day 1 of our captivating journey through the Masai Mara and the East African Great Lakes, our adventure commences in Nairobi, Kenya. At the crack of dawn, precisely at 07h30 in the morning, we rendezvous with you at your designated pre-tour hotel, ready to embark on this remarkable safari. Our initial destination is the mesmerizing Lake Bogoria, one of the magnificent Great Rift Valley Lakes that will grace our itinerary. As we set forth, our route guides us northwest, leading us along the scenic Great Rift Valley floor. As we ascend the escarpment, a breathtaking panorama unfurls before us, revealing the ethereal beauty of the Great Lakes scattered across the vast landscape below. This awe-inspiring vista offers a tantalizing glimpse into the natural wonders that await us on this extraordinary journey. Upon our arrival at the lakeside resort, we are greeted with the opportunity to savor a delectable lunch, recharging ourselves for the adventures ahead. In the afternoon, we delve into the enchanting wonders of Lake Bogoria National Park, eager to explore its myriad treasures. Lake Bogoria is a remarkable soda lake renowned for its ability to draw in colossal seasonal congregations of pink flamingoes. Some affectionately refer to it as 'the new home of the flamingo' due to the migratory phenomenon that graces its shores, with up to two million flamingoes gathering here during certain times of the year. The magnetic allure of this picturesque lake lies in its high salt and mineral content, which proves irresistible to these majestic birds and a diverse array of other avian species. Additionally, Lake Bogoria is famed for its natural hot springs and geysers, adding yet another layer of wonder to our exploration. After our captivating foray into the realm of East African Great Lakes, we return to our cozy lodge, where a sumptuous dinner and a restful overnight stay await us, preparing us for the adventures yet to come.
Following a satisfying breakfast at the lodge, we set out on a southerly journey to the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park. Despite its relatively modest expanse, covering just 180 square kilometers (69 square miles), this national park holds a pivotal role in the conservation of both avian and terrestrial wildlife. Within the confines of this significant wildlife sanctuary, one can encounter the imperiled white and black rhinoceros species, as well as the endangered Rothschild's Giraffes. The park is also home to an impressive array of large African mammals, including lions, leopards, buffaloes, and zebras. Lake Nakuru itself is a veritable paradise for bird enthusiasts, boasting an impressive catalog of over 400 avian species. Among these captivating birds are the Great White Pelican, African Spoonbill, Yellow-billed Stork, Lesser and Greater Flamingos, as well as the Long-crested Eagle. Head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After our immersive game drive experience, we journey southward to our next destination in the splendid array of African Great Lakes, Lake Naivasha. Upon our arrival at the safari lodge, a scrumptious lunch awaits, reenergizing us for the adventures to come. Soon after, we venture out for a guided walking safari within the Crescent Island Game Sanctuary. This unique private reserve, located on a peninsula that transforms into an island during periods of rising water levels in Lake Naivasha, can only be accessed by boat. Our leisurely game walk on Crescent Island offers us the chance to observe wildlife and birds up close, including wildebeest, zebras, various antelope species, and graceful giraffes. Keep a keen eye out for an array of avian wonders such as pelicans, cormorants, and majestic fish eagles. Alternatively, during the afternoon, you have the option to explore the nearby Hell's Gate National Park, a haven for hiking and cycling enthusiasts. After a fulfilling afternoon of exploration in the Lake Naivasha region, nestled within the captivating Great Rift Valley, we return to our lodge, where a delectable dinner awaits, setting the stage for a tranquil and restorative evening. Retire to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Our journey takes us southward towards the town of Narok, where we pause for a satisfying lunch break. Following this, we continue our expedition towards the awe-inspiring Masai Mara National Reserve. This renowned reserve constitutes the pinnacle of our Kenya Safari, offering unparalleled opportunities for wildlife encounters throughout the year. As we approach our tented camp/ lodge, situated in the vicinity of Masai Mara, Kenya's premier safari destination, we remain vigilant, anticipating sightings of freely roaming animals. Upon arrival, we embark on an exhilarating game drive, led by your knowledgeable guide, allowing us to track various species of wildlife and a diverse array of avian treasures. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at your booked camp or lodge.
Today marks an exhilarating full-day adventure on our Masai Mara Safari! We commence our expedition bright and early, embarking on a day-long quest to explore one of Africa's most esteemed wildlife havens. Our extensive game drives are dedicated to tracking down Africa's renowned Big 5 – lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo – as well as a multitude of other imposing mammals. The Masai Mara Reserve, encompassing a sprawling expanse of 1,510 square kilometers, reveals iconic wide-open landscapes and lush riverine woodlands, tracing the sinuous courses of the Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya. A single glance at this landscape suffices to comprehend its magnetic allure; it epitomizes the quintessential African savannah, where an abundance of wild creatures engage in the ceaseless drama of survival.
