Day 1: Nairobi to Sabache At 0630hrs

We'll pick you up from Nairobi, emphasizing an early departure to reach Sabache before the temperatures rise significantly. Samburu's location is truly unique, offering a panoramic backdrop of dramatic hills and cascading landscapes that create an unforgettable safari experience. This region, one of the driest in Kenya, experiences temperatures ranging from 25°C during the coldest months (June and July) to 35°C during the hottest months (January to March). After a day of travel, you'll have time to unwind. In the afternoon, explore hiking trails around the camp, engage in wildlife viewing at camp (spot the resident leopard, elephant corridor, wild dog pack, and more), and experience traditional songs and dance at the camp. Enjoy a delightful dinner under the spectacular African stars.
Dinner & Overnight at Sabache Eco Camp.

Day 2: Mount Ololokwe

Mount Ololokwe Dominating the Samburu plains is the iconic, flat-shaped Mt. Ololokwe, a sacred mountain and one of the most prominent natural features in the region. Hike to the summit in the Namunyak Conservancy to discover the ancient cycad forest, impressive raptor nesting grounds, and over 250 bird species. The summit, with its seven natural springs, attracts wildlife and an abundance of bird species in this otherwise arid landscape.
The Ololokwe summit offers a spectacular view, and some choose to camp overnight. As you ascend the trails, suitable for all levels of hikers, explore rock formations like the "Eye of God" and “Elephant Walk rock,” while guides share insights into the mountain's biota and ecology. The forest is home to Buffalo and Elephant, adding to the adventure. After exploring the mountain, you can either camp at the summit or return to the base camp for hot showers, drinks around the fire, and a sit-down dinner under the stars. (Hike 3-5 hours each way).

Day 3: Chappulo Lugga Singing Wells Birds

Chappulo Lugga Singing Wells Birds, singing wells, cultural village visit — today's trek takes you across the Samburu Plains and along sand rivers to the legendary Chapulo Lugga. For centuries, Samburu and other pastoralists have gathered here to collect water with their herds. Along the way, explore rock formations, trees growing out of crevasses, and diverse wildlife.

Enjoy lunch under the shade of a large acacia on the edge of the sandy lugga. Afterward, embark on a short walk to look for game and immerse yourself in the area's ambiance. The Chapulo Lugga is home to one of the largest Singing Wells in the region. Hear ancestral songs as herdsmen arrive with their livestock to collect water from hand-dug sand river wells. Following this, visit a nearby traditional Samburu village to experience the rich culture of these pastoral herders. Spend time in an authentic Samburu homestead, partaking in daily activities, traditional games, and crafts. Return to camp in the evening, have a hot shower, share experiences over drinks by the fire, and enjoy a three-course dinner under the African stars. (3 hours each way).
