Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a Grayton Expeditions Representative. Following a brief introduction, you will be smoothly transferred to your designated hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, you may choose to explore the following options:
1. Visit the Giraffe Centre: Situated just 5 kilometers from Nairobi's city center, the Giraffe Centre offers a unique opportunity to closely interact with Rothschild's giraffes.
2. Explore Elephant Sheldrick's Wildlife Trust: Please note that advance booking is required for this visit. This trust focuses on rescuing orphaned elephants and rehabilitating wildlife.
Later in the day, you can indulge in an optional, delightful lunch at Carnivore restaurant or a similar establishment. Your night's accommodation will be at your selected Nairobi hotel.
Your adventure commences with an early breakfast in Nairobi. As you set out, you'll journey to a vantage point overlooking the Great Rift Valley, offering breathtaking views of an extensive series of interconnected geological trenches. This expansive valley, adorned with lakes and mountains, spans thousands of miles from the Beqaa Valley in Lebanon to Mozambique in southeastern Africa.
Afterwards, you'll reach Nakuru and check in at a hotel in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you'll embark on your initial safari experience, venturing into Lake Nakuru National Park. Here, you'll engage in a delightful game of hide-and-seek with the local wildlife. While nothing can be guaranteed in the wild, be prepared for the possibility of exciting wildlife sightings.
Get ready for an exciting journey as today's destination is the Maasai Mara National Reserve, one of Kenya's premier attractions. The name "Mara" is derived from the landscape, with the word meaning "spotted with shrubs" in the local language. This region is intricately shaped by the Mara River and Talek River, creating a vast habitat for a diverse population of wildlife and birds.
During the afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture of the Maasai people by visiting a Maasai village. Here, you'll witness a traditional welcome dance performance, and your guide will provide insights into the Maasai way of life, sharing their beliefs and customs. You'll observe demonstrations of how the Maasai create fires using sticks and animal dung, and you'll also have the chance to meet morans, the young Maasai men trained to protect their communities. As a unique part of your experience, you will be invited into a local Maasai home to gain insight into family life, followed by a visit to the village marketplace, where you can purchase handcrafted products made by the community.
Your safari continues before the break of dawn, as it's during the early and late hours of the day that wildlife is most active. Fortunate travelers may even have the opportunity to witness remarkable animal hunting behaviors during these hours, such as a lion pursuing and capturing a wildebeest or a cheetah chasing down and seizing a gazelle. To ensure you have an enjoyable full day of adventure, we provide a picnic lunch and an ample supply of drinking water at your disposal.
Alternatively, you can opt for a truly unforgettable experience by taking to the skies in a hot air balloon ride over the expansive plains of the Masai Mara. Afterward, you'll have the unique chance to enjoy breakfast right amidst the wildlife on the savannah. Your day will conclude at your Camp or Lodge, where you'll enjoy meals throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Following breakfast, you'll set off on a journey that spans approximately five to six hours to reach your next destination. During this scenic drive, you'll make two or three stops for sightseeing, with the possibility of spotting wildlife along the way. You'll reach Naivasha in time for lunch. After hours of travel on dusty roads, you'll be rewarded with a leisurely afternoon to unwind and rejuvenate at your chosen accommodation, be it a lodge, camp, resort, or spa.
Following your morning meal, a brief journey will take you to Hell's Gate National Park and Crescent Island Game Sanctuary. Despite its name, don't be misled; this park offers a serene environment inhabited by a variety of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, warthogs, gazelles, and more. The absence of predators creates a peaceful atmosphere. You'll have several options for exploring this area, such as hiking, cycling, or taking a boat ride, all while scanning the landscape for wildlife. Later in the day, you can take a refreshing dip in one of the naturally heated Olkaria geothermal spa swimming pools.
Begin your day early to make the most of the cooler morning hours. Today's adventure takes you on a hike to the summit of Mt. Longonot, a stratovolcano nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley. Its name, derived from the Masai word "Oloonong'ot," translates to "steep ridges," and while it may not be extraordinarily high, it offers a remarkable vantage point. The last recorded eruption of this volcano occurred in the 1860s. You'll return to your camp in the late afternoon, where you can unwind and enjoy a relaxing evening. Your accommodation options include a lodge, camp, resort, or spa, and meals are provided throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Following breakfast, you'll set off for Amboseli, with plans to arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a game viewing drive, where you'll have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and many other plains game animals. As you enter Amboseli National Park, you'll be greeted by the magnificent sight of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain on the African continent, often referred to as "the rooftop of Africa." On clear days, you'll be treated to breathtaking views and fantastic photo opportunities as you observe elephants against the backdrop of this iconic mountain. Amboseli National Park is situated in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering a unique and captivating landscape.
You'll conclude your day with dinner and an overnight stay at your chosen lodge or camp. Meals will be provided throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Today, you'll have the opportunity to explore the notable attractions of Amboseli National Park. The park's swamps are known for drawing wildlife, making them a key destination for your wildlife photography adventure. Keep a keen watch for herds of elephants and gatherings of flamingoes as you traverse the park. During your exploration, you'll relish a picturesque picnic lunch within the park's natural beauty. Later in the day, you'll return to your camp, where you can gaze upon an awe-inspiring star-filled sky on your final night in Kenya, creating an unforgettable and magical experience.
Commence your day with early morning game drives, even before breakfast. Following your morning adventure, enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Subsequently, you will depart for Nairobi, savoring a picnic lunch on the way. Your journey will conclude upon your arrival in Nairobi, marking the end of the tour.
