Our safari is designed to provide visitors with an exceptional experience in Kenya, offering a rich learning opportunity and ample chances for photography. You'll have the chance to capture stunning images of Mount Kenya, the tallest mountain in the country, as well as the iconic equator markers. Additionally, you'll encounter some of Kenya's most precious treasures, including the last two remaining endangered Northern White rhinos, fascinating chimpanzees, Kenya's unique "Special Six" wildlife, the African Big Five, and a diverse array of other wildlife, nature, and bird species. This safari is suitable for a wide range of travelers, whether you're a passionate photographer, a bird enthusiast, a nature lover, a honeymooning couple, or part of a private group seeking an unforgettable adventure in Kenya.
Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a Grayton Expeditions Representative. Following a brief introduction, you will be smoothly transferred to your designated hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, you may choose to explore the following options:
1. Visit the Giraffe Centre: Situated just 5 kilometers from Nairobi's city center, the Giraffe Centre offers a unique opportunity to closely interact with Rothschild's giraffes.
2. Explore Elephant Sheldrick's Wildlife Trust: Please note that advance booking is required for this visit. This trust focuses on rescuing orphaned elephants and rehabilitating wildlife.
Later in the day, you can indulge in an optional, delightful lunch at Carnivore restaurant or a similar establishment. Your night's accommodation will be at your selected Nairobi hotel.
Following your morning meal, set off for Aberdare National Park. Savor a relaxing drive through picturesque landscapes adorned with pineapple, coffee, and tea plantations, ultimately reaching Aberdare Country Club in time for lunch. After your satisfying meal, we'll organize a transfer to the renowned tree lodge known as The Ark Lodge. Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure, enjoying the unique opportunity to observe wildlife as they gather at the lodge's water and salt lick areas. Your day will conclude with a delightful dinner and an overnight stay at The Ark Lodge, where both lunch and dinner are included.
Begin your day with a morning breakfast before heading to the Base Hotel. There, you'll reunite with your driver/guide and commence your journey to Samburu. Located in the heart of Kenya's arid northern region, this area is famously known as the "Born Free" Country. It has also served as the backdrop for popular TV shows like Survivor Africa and has been featured in numerous acclaimed films, including "To Walk with Lions," "Born Free," "Out of Africa," and "The Great Crocodile Trial." Samburu is renowned for its unique and rare northern species, including the Grevy's zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Beisa Oryx, and Gerenuk, among others. After a satisfying lunch, you'll have the early afternoon to relax and unwind. Later in the day, embark on an exciting late afternoon game drive to seek out the abundant wildlife that inhabits this remarkable region.
Early morning tea or coffee and depart for a game drive in search of wildlife. Return to the lodge and spend the day at leisure. Afternoon game drives at 1600 hrs. Alternatively, you have the option of departing with picnic breakfast and lunch in order to enjoy a full day game drive. Samburu National Reserve is a unique wildlife conservation haven famous for an abundance of rare species of animals such as Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx. The reserve is also home to a population of close to 900 elephants. Large predators such as lion, Leopard and cheetah are an important attraction(Kamunyak the famous lioness that adapted a baby Oryx is a resident in the reserve.
Following your breakfast, embark on a journey to Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy, making brief stopovers at curio shops and the equator crossing point. These stops offer you the chance to use restroom facilities, shop for Kenyan crafts as souvenirs to take back home, and gain insights into the significance of the equator on our planet. You will then continue to Sweet Waters Serena Tented Camp, situated within the conservancy, for a satisfying lunch. The afternoon provides leisure time to relax before setting out to visit the Chimpanzee sanctuary. In the evening, you have the option to partake in an exciting Night Game drive at an extra cost and depending on where you will be staying.
After enjoying your morning breakfast, complete your check-out procedures and set off on your journey to Lake Naivasha, with a short stopover at Thomson Falls via Nyahururu. Following this, continue your drive to Lake Naivasha, where you'll arrive in time for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you'll have the exciting opportunity to embark on a boat ride, followed by a guided walk on Crescent Island. Here, you'll have the unique experience of strolling amidst wildlife in their natural habitat.
Enjoy your breakfast before setting out at 0900hrs for a day tour to Lake Nakuru National Park. Located in the heart of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru National Park is renowned for hosting one of the most astonishing avian spectacles in the world – the mesmerizing flight of the flamingoes! Furthermore, the park boasts an impressive array of over 450 bird species, making it a true paradise for passionate birdwatchers. In addition to its avian wonders, the park serves as a haven for the highly endangered black rhino and is teeming with other captivating wildlife such as buffalo, lions, and the elusive leopard. Your lunch stop will be at Nakuru Sopa Lodge. Following your exploration of the park, you will exit and make your way back to your booked accommodation.
Following breakfast, continue your journey southward into the Great Rift Valley, ultimately reaching the renowned Masai Mara. Sometimes spelled as Maasai Mara and affectionately referred to as "The Mara" by locals, it is a vast national game reserve located in Narok, Kenya. Importantly, it is adjacent to Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. The reserve is named in tribute to the Maasai people, the indigenous inhabitants of the region who migrated from the Nile Basin. When viewed from a distance, the landscape is aptly described as "spotted," with the term "Mara" originating from the local Maasai language, denoting the many short bushy trees that dot the terrain. The Masai Mara is globally acclaimed for its exceptional populations of lion, leopard, cheetah, and African Bush Elephant. It is one of Africa's most renowned and vital wildlife conservation and wilderness areas. You will arrive in time for lunch, followed by an evening game drive from 1600hrs to 1830hrs, allowing you to immerse yourself in the park's natural wonders.
Today, you have a choice to make your day even more memorable: Option 1: You can opt for an early morning breakfast and set off with a picnic lunch that your dedicated safari guide will assist in serving amidst the wilderness of Masai Mara. This experience offers the chance to capture the breathtaking sunrise and savor a bush breakfast on the open plains. Option 2: Alternatively, you can enjoy your early morning breakfast at the lodge and then embark on a game drive. Afterward, return to the lodge for a hot lunch, followed by an evening game drive at around 1600hrs. The evening will be yours to relax and unwind. On this day, you will also have the opportunity to visit a local Maasai village to gain insights into the unique lifestyle of this tribe, who coexist harmoniously with the wildlife in the region.
After enjoying your morning breakfast, prepare for an early morning game drive, which will commence at 1600Hrs EAT. This provides an excellent opportunity to spot additional wildlife that you may have missed during your earlier excursions. You will continue this wildlife adventure until 1100Hrs, at which point you will begin your journey back to Nairobi. Upon your return, you will arrive in Nairobi in time for lunch at the renowned Carnivore Restaurant, where you can indulge in game meat and barbecue specialties. Finally, we'll ensure you are conveniently dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where you can board your flight home, carrying with you cherished memories of this unforgettable journey or at your hotel/ residence.
